“What we say and what we do are the same thing.”
That phrase has become a leadership mantra at Faulkner Construction. And in 2025, it was put to the test at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
We entered three projects. We walked away with three Gold Awards and a Regional Lifestyle Award.
The results matter. But more importantly, they prove that the Gold Standard we talk about internally is alive in every project we deliver.
Awards night = excitement + nerves
House of the Year is always a big night. It’s when we find out whether our words and our work line up. This year we entered three projects. And, we came away with three Gold Awards and a Regional Lifestyle Award.
That result is something I’m proud of, but more than the trophies, it’s proof that the gold standard we talk about internally is alive in every project we deliver.
Gold standard across the range
A lot of people assume Faulkner is only about the “high-end” homes. And yes, we do build multi-million-dollar architectural projects, but 2025 showed once again that we deliver value across the range.
Our three entries spanned very different categories:
Renovation $500k–$1m
Riddell House | Glendowie
Architect: Hurley Architects
This thoughtful renovation honours the original home while building smartly into the future. At just over 70sqm, the project demonstrates how strategic upgrades can deliver significant aesthetic and functional impact without overwhelming the existing structure.

The Marine Residence | Mellons Bay
Architect: Brendon Gordon Architects
Built for coastal performance and refined comfort, this home fuses sustainability with timeless style. Every detail speaks of craftsmanship, innovation and enduring quality.

Prospect House | Mount Eden,
Architect: MAUD & Interiors: at.space
Where mid-century inspiration meets modern mastery. Beauty, comfort and detail combine in perfect harmony.

Each one took Gold.
That’s what consistency looks like. No matter the size or scale, the benchmark doesn’t change. Quality is non-negotiable.
Why it matters
Awards aren’t about polishing silverware for the office wall. For us, they do three things:
They set the bar high: House of the Year is an external measure that keeps us striving for better.
They build trust: With clients and with architects, who need to know that promises made will be promises kept.
They reinforce our vision: To be New Zealand’s leading builder of homes designed by architects.
The gold standard isn’t just for “special” projects. It’s for every home we put our name to.
Looking ahead
This year’s results tell me two things. First, that our team has what it takes to deliver at the very top of the industry. And second, that our clients - whether they’re building a renovation or a dream home designed by an architect - can trust us to deliver to the same uncompromising benchmark.
That’s the Faulkner difference.
Building homes. Building culture. Building to Gold Standard.
