In a competition that celebrates the very best of New Zealand’s residential construction, Faulkner Construction has once again proven why it sits at the top.
At the 2023 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards, our Auckland and Tauranga-based team was honoured with multiple accolades, including:
Regional Supreme Renovation of the Year
Regional Pink Batts Craftsmanship Award
Regional Category Winner
Regional Gold Award, placing in the Top 100 nationwide
These awards reflect not just the quality of our builds, but the commitment and care that underpin every Faulkner project across both regions.
Working closely with architect Natasha Markham of MAUD, we undertook the meticulous renovation of a Victorian villa located in a Special Character area of Auckland. Natasha, who was also the client, brought a clear vision to the project — one that celebrated heritage while introducing modern functionality.
“It required careful handling to ensure the preservation of the heritage while infusing a contemporary aesthetic,” says Faulkner founder, Ross Faulkner.
The outcome is a seamless blend of old and new. A beautifully restored street-front elevation leads to a striking modern rear addition, with details such as a recycled brick floor and original Kauri timber used throughout. A basement garage is subtly integrated into the landscaping, while inside, sliding doors open to a tranquil garden, pool, and patio.
This project joins others we’ve completed with MAUD, such as the Shift House renovation, where sustainability and craftsmanship go hand in hand.
As a second-generation family business with teams in both Auckland and Tauranga, we’re proud of the culture and quality our name represents. From our focus on training apprentices to delivering exceptional client experiences, every award we receive reflects the strength of our people.
“We view each home we build as if it were our own,” says Ross.
